TxtCart collects new subscribers directly from the Shopify checkout page. When a customer checks the "Accept SMS marketing" checkbox and enters their phone number at checkout, that information is captured and that person is added to your TxtCart subscriber list.
Additionally, TxtCart can collect phone numbers from the Shipping and Billing fields at checkout.
By default, numbers captured through the Shipping field can only be used for transactional messaging (not marketing), and numbers from the Billing field are not collected, but this behavior can be changed from your Messaging Settings (Account Details > Settings > Messaging Tab).
However, keep in mind that enabling promotional messaging for numbers captured from the shipping or billing fields carries legal risk, and merchants are liable for any compliance issues that may arise from it.
