Why isn't my Checkout Abandonment Flow sending text messages?

For abandoned checkout messages to be sent, customers must be compliant SMS subscribers for your store. This means they need to have properly opted in to receive marketing messages from your brand.

Additionally, to send messages, an approved Toll-Free Number (TFN) is required. Merchants using TxtCart must ensure their TFN is approved. Your TFN's verification status can be checked at any time from your Account Details > Settings > Messaging tab. Once a TFN has been verified its status will change to "Verified"

In order for a Checkout Abandonment message to be sent, the following conditions must be met:

  • The customer must check the "Text me with news and offers" box (this behavior can be changed from your Compliance Settings)

  • The customer must enter their phone number

  • Their phone must be within one of your TFNs' service areas.

  • Once these conditions are met and they abandon checkout, your will trigger and will send them a message 20 minutes after they've abandoned their checkout page.

Important Notes:

  • Without proper SMS opt-in, abandoned checkout messages cannot be sent (this is required by law).

  • Subscribers must opt in during the checkout process.

  • Imported subscribers through third-party tools or manual uploads will not receive checkout abandonment messages.
