What is an Abandoned Cart – Returning Customer Flow?

An Abandoned Cart – Returning Customer Flow automatically sends messages specifically to customers who have bought from you before but left items in their cart and didn't complete their checkout.

It's a personalized reminder tailored for shoppers who already know and trust your brand.

This flow helps you:

  • Recover sales from your loyal, returning customers

  • Send more personalized messages based on their purchase history

  • Re-engage shoppers who are already familiar with your store

  • Increase conversion rates with customers who trust your brand


How to Create an Abandoned Cart – Returning Customer Flow

There are two ways to get started:


1. From the Flow Home Screen

  • Scroll down to find the Abandoned Cart – Returning Customer Flow Template

  • Click Create

2. From the Create Menu

  • Click + Create Flow

  • Select Use a Flow Template

  • Choose Abandoned Cart – Returning Customer Flow

  • Click Create Flow


Flow Properties

Using the flow properties shown in the image below is best for an Abandoned Cart – Returning Customer Flow:


Customize Your Flow (Optional)

Once you create the flow, you'll see the Flow Builder screen.


To make changes:

  • Click Edit Flow at the top

  • Customize the Flow Properties, Messages, or Flow Actions as needed

  • Note: Editing a flow creates a new version of it. Go to "See Version History" from the three dots on top to activate the correct version.

  • Learn more about versioning here

To use it as-is:

  • Simply Turn On your flow, or

  • Schedule it to start later

Important Note:

Make sure the Compliance setting for this flow is set to "Promotional" to avoid carrier filtering and potential legal issues.
