Trigger Filters in Flows

Control who enters your Flow by setting specific conditions that must be met before the Flow starts.

What are Trigger Filters?

Trigger Filters are rules that decide who can enter your Flow based on specific conditions.

Think of them like a bouncer at a club – only people who meet certain requirements get in. For example, only customers who spend over $50, or only those who buy a specific product.

Why Use Trigger Filters?

Trigger Filters help you:

  1. Target the Right Customers – Send messages only to customers who meet your criteria

  2. Personalize Better – Create specific Flows for specific customer segments

  3. Increase Conversions – Match the right offer to the right customer

Common Use Cases

Here are a few examples of how you could use Trigger Filters:

Filter by Order Value

  • Only send VIP offers to customers with orders over $100

  • Target low-value customers with bundle deals

Filter by Product

  • Send product care instructions only to customers who bought specific items

  • Create follow-up sequences for specific product categories

Filter by Discount Usage

  • Target customers who used a specific discount code

  • Exclude customers who already got a discount

Filter by Location

  • Send location-specific offers based on currency

How Trigger Filters Work

Here's what happens when a Flow has Trigger Filters:

When someone triggers the Flow:

  1. TxtCart checks if they meet the filter conditions

  2. If they meet ALL required conditions → They enter the Flow

  3. If they DON'T meet the conditions → They are excluded (Flow doesn't run for them)

Available Trigger Filters

Trigger Filters allow you to include only subscribers who meet specific criteria. When a Trigger Filter is applied, the automation will only fire for subscribers who match the filter conditions.

Depending on the Trigger you're using, the Trigger Filter option may or may not be available.

Additionally, the available filter options will vary from one Trigger to another.

How to Add Trigger Filters

Step 1: Open your Flow in the Flow Builder

Step 2: Click on the Trigger card at the top of your Flow (the blue card showing your Flow trigger)

Step 3: In the Flow Properties panel that opens, look for the Trigger Filter section

Step 4: Click Add Filter or Add Condition

Step 5: Select the filter type from the dropdown (e.g., "Total Price", "Product Name")

Step 6: Choose your condition:

  • Equals – Must match exactly

  • Not equals – Must not match

  • Greater than – Must be more than

  • Less than – Must be less than

  • Contains – Must include

Step 7: Enter the value for your filter (e.g., "$50" for order value, "VIP10" for discount code)

Step 8: Save your Flow

Adding Multiple Trigger Filters

You can combine multiple filters using AND or OR logic:

AND Logic (All conditions must be true)

  • Example: Total Price > $50 AND Product Name contains "Premium"

  • Only customers who meet BOTH conditions will enter the Flow

OR Logic (At least one condition must be true)

  • Example: Product Name contains "Hoodie" OR Product Name contains "Jacket"

  • Customers who meet EITHER condition will enter the Flow

You can mix AND/OR within a single trigger filter to create complex conditions.

Takeaways:

  • Customers who don't meet filter criteria won't enter the Flow at all

  • You can add multiple AND/OR conditions under one trigger filter

  • Filters are checked every time the Flow is triggered

  • Make sure your filter values match exactly (case-sensitive for text)
