What is Optimized A/B Testing?

Optimized A/B Testing is a smart test that automatically finds the winning message version for you.

Unlike regular A/B tests that run forever, Optimized Tests run for a set time, pick a winner based on your chosen criteria, and then send all future subscribers down the winning path automatically.

How to Set Up an Optimized A/B Test


Step 1: Open your Flow Builder

Step 2: Drag the Optimized A/B Test rule into your Flow or hit (+) to add from Flow Actions drop down menu

Step 3: Click on the Optimized A/B Test node to open settings

Step 4: Configure your test:

Traffic Split:

  • Choose "Split traffic evenly" (50/50 for 2 variations)

  • Or customize the percentage for each variation

  • Add up to 6 variations using "+ Add Variation"

Winning Criteria: Select how TxtCart should determine the winner:

  • Click conversion rate – The message with the most clicks received (through Short Links)

  • Message conversion rate – The message with the most purchases/conversions

  • Earning per message – The message with the highest revenue generated

  • Unique click through rate – The message with the most unique clicks

Duration: Set how long the test should run:

  • Hours

  • Days

  • Weeks

  • Months

Step 5: Create different message paths for each variation

Step 6: Save your Flow and turn it on


How It Works

Here's what happens when you run an Optimized A/B Test:


During the test:

  1. Subscribers are split between your variations based on your traffic settings

  2. TxtCart tracks performance based on your chosen winning criteria

  3. Each variation collects data (clicks, conversions, revenue, etc.)

After the test ends:

  1. TxtCart automatically picks the winner based on your criteria

  2. All future subscribers are sent down the winning path

  3. No more testing, everyone gets the best-performing version
